What we collect, and what we do with it

Who is responsible

MetMeSS 2026 is organised by the Department of Geology & Geophysics, IIT Kharagpur. For anything on this page, write to metmess2026@gmail.com.

What we collect

Only what you type into a form on this site. At present that is the abstract submission form:

• Your name, email address and affiliation.
• The names and affiliations of your co-authors, as you enter them, and which author is presenting.
• Your abstract title, theme, presentation preference, keywords and any remarks.
• The two files you upload — the DOCX and the PDF of your abstract.
• Your registration ID, if you have one.

When registration opens, that form will also collect the category you register under and a payment reference number. We do not collect or see card details, bank credentials or UPI PINs at any point; payment happens outside this site.

Why we collect it

To review abstracts, build the programme and the abstract volume, issue certificates, and email you about the symposium. Nothing else. We do not send marketing.

Where it is stored

Submissions go to a Google Sheet and a Google Drive folder owned by the organisers' symposium account, metmess2026@gmail.com. Access is limited to the organising committee and the reviewers assigned to your abstract. Google processes this data on our behalf under its own terms.

Who else sees it

Reviewers see your abstract. If your abstract is accepted, your name, affiliation, title and abstract text appear in the programme and the abstract volume, which are public — that is the point of submitting. Your email address and phone number are never published. We do not sell, rent or share your data with anyone else.

How long we keep it

Submission and registration records are kept for two years after the symposium, for accounting, reporting to our funders, and answering queries about certificates. After that they are deleted. The published abstract volume is a permanent scholarly record and stays as it is.

Cookies and analytics

This site sets no cookies and no advertising or tracking pixels. We count page views with GoatCounter, which is privacy-friendly: it stores no cookies, no IP addresses and nothing that identifies you, and it does not track you across sites. All we see is how many people looked at a page and roughly where in the world they were. There is nothing here to consent to and nothing to opt out of.

The site loads fonts from Google Fonts. Your browser contacts Google to fetch them, and Google sees your IP address in the process, as it would for any site using them.

Your choices

Write to metmess2026@gmail.com and we will, within a reasonable time:

• Send you a copy of what we hold about you.
• Correct anything that is wrong.
• Withdraw your submission and delete your data, up to the point at which the abstract volume goes to press.

Do not put anything confidential, unpublished-and-sensitive, or export-controlled into an abstract. An accepted abstract becomes public.

Changes

If this page changes in a way that matters, we will email everyone who has submitted. Last updated 8 September 2026.
